Mission Statement

We should establish an agenda for the island.

We know we want to use it for T+L activities, but what do we mean by this?

Do we want to make the island functional, or functional and exciting and lovely?  Do we just want the island to have a series of classrooms where students come and have a "lesson" and then go away, or do we want the island to also be a place where our students will come to hangout, to play? 

From an educational point of view the latter is important because:

• it will encourage students and staff to visit the island, and therefore be more motivated to participate in the formal sessions
• it will open up more opportunities for cross-faculty communication

From an authoring point of view it is important because:

• we are making something that should uniquely represent the university
• we should be proud of what we are creating
• this will encourage staff in the design schools to be interested in the project
